Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
DBT is a therapy that will help you reduce negative emotions such as sadness, fear or anger and increase positive emotions such as peace and happiness. DBT focuses on teaching you skills so that you can solve your own problems, feel more self confident and competent.
In DBT you will receive weekly individual therapy, weekly skills group classes and weekly phone skills coaching. These services together provide the extra support you need to create a life worth living.
In Skills Group, you will learn about:
Core Mindfulness: Learn how to live fully in the present with out the pain and fog of past events or future worries. Get to know your Wise Mind and how to work with your Wise Mind.
Walk the Middle Path: Learn how to avoid crisis and work out problems with out extreme ups and downs.
Distress Tolerance: Learn how to get through a crisis with out making it worse.
Emotional Regulation: Learn how to accept and understand what your emotions are trying to communicate to you. Learn how to reduce the negative and increase the positive emotions. Learn how to stop living on the yo-yo of your emotions.
Interpersonal Effectiveness: Learn how to balance your needs and the demands of others. Learn how to ask for what you need in ways that make you feel more competent and confident.
